Shadow environment minister Angie Bell has declared the Liberal Party will continue developing its own climate policy, regardless of the Nationals’ position on net zero .
Ms Bell’s comments come amid growing speculation that the Coalition could face another split over climate and energy policy.
The Nationals' Federal Council voted to abandon the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050, and federal MPs have been expected to follow suit at a meeting on Sunday.
Ms Bell told Sky News that Nationals MPs had their own process, and the Liberal MPs were going through theirs.
“We’ll come to our position on energy and emissions policy in due course,” Ms Bell said on Sunday.
