CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Two of Iowa’s Democratic representatives campaigned against Congresswoman Ashley Hinson for U.S. Senate Saturday, focusing on the ongoing government shutdown.

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Zach Wahls rallied against Republican Senate candidate Congresswoman Ashley Hinson Saturday morning.

“Ashley Hinson sold us out and voted to end our government’s investment in affordable healthcare so Ashley Hinson could look out for her billionaire donors and give them another tax cut,” Wahls said.

Democrats continue to vote against reopening the government as they push for health care subsidies set to expire at the end of the year to be extended.

Wahls blames the continued shutdown on Republicans, saying it’s their responsibility to negotiate with Democratic lawmakers
