A 20-year-old man was shot and killed after breaking into an apartment in Tulsa late Halloween night, police say.
Tulsa Police said just before midnight at 11:50 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call at the Crossing at Silver Oaks Apartments near 71st and Yale.
Police said the caller heard around 20 gunshots and witnessed a man on the ground with a gun next to him. TPD identified the victim as 20-year-old Jamond Silas, who was dead at the scene.
Police said a man inside the apartment came forward and said he shot Silas. He claimed Silas kicked in the door and entered the apartment, where the man said he shot Silas in self-defense.
That man has been questioned and released by Tulsa Police. Charges, if any, will be determined by the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office.
