EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A Henderson man is spending time in jail after deputies say he tried stealing from a hardware store in Evansville.

Shortly before noon Saturday, deputies were called to the Ace Hardware store on Pollack Avenue to investigate a theft.

Dispatch reportedly advised a man, later identified as Joseph Courbat, was concealing power tools down the front of his pants.

Deputies say they stopped Courbat as he was leaving the store and noted a “noticeable bulge” at the front waistband area of his pants.

According to the sheriff’s office, a Milwaukee M18 1.25″ Router was discovered inside his pants.

Deputies say Courbat claimed he was walking back to pay for it.
