LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky's governor declared a state of emergency Friday afternoon.
Gov. Andy Beshear said he is sending $5 million from the state's budget reserve to supply Kentucky food banks .
"Emergency Management will then work with Feeding Kentucky and our food banks across our Commonwealth to increase the supply of food for those that need it," he said.
The "Feeding Kentucky" network is seven food banks that provide food and groceries in all 120 counties in the Commonwealth.
An additional $12 million in state funds will temporarily support the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program through November, according to the governor.
