A sobering call-volume update framed the Oct. 21 Duncannon Borough Council meeting as Duncannon EMS Chief Kraig Nace reported the agency had handled 23 deceased-patient calls this year, the highest total on record. The service is tracking toward roughly 1,169 total calls by year’s end, about even with 2019.

Nace outlined fundraisers and station needs while thanking the borough for continued support. Upcoming events include weekly Monday night bingo with a partner recreation association and a fall meat bingo to fund building projects. Breakfast with Santa is set for Saturday, Dec. 13. Proceeds are earmarked for new flooring in high-traffic areas, permanent signs, and an information technology update estimated at about $8,900 to modernize five work stations and network hardware.
