TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WNDU) - Westview senior star runner and Notre Dame commit Noah Bontrager was just short of winning the boys cross country state title on Saturday.

According to our reporting partners at The Goshen News , Bontrager made a late push with about 100 meters to go but ultimately came up short in a photo finish with Spring Valley junior Calvin Seitz.

Seitz’s official time was listed as 15:01.22 while Bontrager’s was 15:01.24.

It’s the second cross country state runner-up finish in a row for Bontrager, who heads into track season as a reigning state champion .

Bontrager wouldn’t go home emptyhanded though, as he was named the Mental Attitude Award winner, which recognizes a senior who excels in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability.
