A Chicago police officer was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while responding to a call, authorities said.
Around 5:31 p.m. Saturday, Chicago police officers were responding to a call of a person with a gun on the 8100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. Police said they saw a man matching the description of the person with the gun get into a Chevy Impala and flee.
As he fled, the man struck a marked CPD squad car and an officer with the vehicle.
Video taken by witnesses posted on Citizen App round 6 p.m. showed a large emergency response in the area, from both the fire department and police.
The man continued driving until he was taken into custody on the 4100 block of South Indiana, police said.
