SLIDELL, La. — Firefighters responded early Saturday morning to a blaze at Lewis Stables in Slidell.

According to St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1, crews arrived to find flames coming from a barn located across the street from the main building. Firefighters acted quickly to contain the fire to just one section of the structure.

Several agencies assisted with the investigation into what caused the fire. The fire claimed the lives of some horses stabled in the barn.

"Unfortunately, some animals were lost, but many were saved. No people were hurt or injured," Brian Macaluso with St. Tammany Fire District 1 confirms to WWLTV.
