Maple Leaf defenceman Chris Tanev was stretchered off of the ice at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday with a suspected second head injury in less than two weeks.
At 8:35 of the third period of the game against the Flyers, Toronto’s top defensive blueliner went to the ice hard after Philly’s Matvei Michkov backed into the unsuspecting Leaf. Eventually paramedics and medical staff put him on a gurney, immobilized his head and neck and, according to Sportsnet, initially were evaluating him at the arena before deciding on examination in hospital.
