It took all four quarters, but Garden City got it done.
Top-seeded Garden City won its 13th straight county championship with a 1-0 victory over second-seeded Manhasset in the field hockey Nassau Class B final at Adelphi on Saturday.
Casey Psaki lifted a shot from 10 yards out just past Manhasset goalkeeper Annie Spina’s left hip with just over four minutes remaining in regulation for final's lone goal.
“It felt so amazing, I didn’t even think it was real at first,” Psaki said. “When I saw the ball pop up in front of me, my only instinct was to just bury it in the back of the net.”
Garden City (15-0) plays the Suffolk Class B champion at noon on Nov. 9 at Sachem East High School in the Long Island Class B championship.
Manhasset (12-5) didn't give up after Garden City's goal though. M
