A teenager from Indy's East Side got a dangerous surprise in her Halloween candy this week.
Thirteen-year-old Kaitlyn O'Conner says she found a needle in one of her candy bars.
She said she went trick-or-treating Friday night in Irvington with her family, just like they do every year.
Her mom checked some of the candy last night, so she thought everything was okay.
But then Saturday morning, she said she bit into a bite-sized candy bar and a needle got stuck in the roof of her mouth.
She was medically cleared, and police took the needle and candy for further examination.
"I was mad and then sad because I didn't expect nice people who live there to do that sort of thing," Kaitlyn said. "I never met someone who is that mean."
