For the first time in school history both Winooski soccer teams headed to Rutland High School to play for a championship on Saturday, Nov. 1. The girls team was making their championship game debut while the boys team was searching for their fourth straight title and first ever title in Division III.
It was a mixed result for Winooski soccer fans. The No. 10 Spartans boys soccer team (8-8-1) took care of business winning 4-3 in penalty kicks against top-seeded Peoples (15-1-1) while the Winooski girls soccer team came up empty handed.
Peoples and Winooski battled for a 0-0 draw in regulation and overtime. Both teams had chances to score, but Winooski's goalie Omar Turnage and People's goalie Jack Peterson stopped all those opportunities. The Spartans entered the shootout feeling confid
