BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

While many await the release of monthly SNAP benefits, those in Birmingham are facing financial hardships, with some relying solely on disability income.

A Birmingham woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed her concerns about the uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits , saying, "Right now, I'm kind of wavering."

She emphasized the importance of SNAP to her budget, stating, "My only income is disability."

To help secure food, she frequently shops at the Mercy Deliverance Ministry Mobile Grocery Store , which accepts SNAP as payment and offers lower prices. The organization also distributes free food on the second Tuesday and Thursday of every month.

"They have programs where you go and get food boxes," she said.
