KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Uncertainty about the federally funded food aid program —SNAP — continues as the Government Shutdown stretches to day 32.
Businesses around the Kansas City metro have stepped in to help since the temporary suspension of SNAP was announced last month due to the shutdown.
Throughout November, Ate 1 Six BBQ in Raymore, is offering free meals for children impacted by cuts to SNAP benefits.
“Over the course of the last week and a half, we've had interactions with people who have come in, and they have openly spoken about how it's going to affect them. It was kind of like, ‘Oh, wow.’ Like we realized, just how many people really depended on them (SNAP),” said LaTijerra Davis, a co-owner of Ate 1 Six BBQ.
