COLORADO SPRINGS — Mountain View senior Madeline Clark crossed the finish line at the Norris Penrose Event Center immediately into the embrace of her father, Thompson School District athletic director and head of the CHSAA cross country committee Kevin Clark.

In Clark’s fourth and final state meet, she finally made it onto the awards podium with a top-10 finish in the Class 4A girls race. She was eighth in 19 minutes, 6.6 seconds. She was 13th last year.

“It definitely means a lot,” Clark said. “I’m really proud of myself and my team, and just everything it’s taken to get here. I’ve had a lot of injuries, and I feel like I proved myself today.”

The Mountain Lions finished eighth as a team with 222 points. Timnath won the 4A girls team race with 107 points.
