MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEHT) -- Uncertainty continues over whether people's Snap Benefits will be suspended for the month of November.

The first of the month is usually when federal food assistance is loaded onto snap cards, but not today because of the government shutdown. With federal food assistance funds running out millions of people across the country are at risk of going hungry. On Friday, Governor Beshear declared a state of emergency and redirected food funds to feeding Kentucky food banks.

In a statement, Governor Beshear says "In Kentucky, we're committed to doing everything we can to help our neighbors get through this challenging time thankfully, we have a great partner in feeding Kentucky, which will allow us to provide some support for those most affected"
