A Dubreuilville-area gold mine dealt with a “seismic event” and equipment failure that affected a mill’s operation during the third quarter.
No workers were hurt or equipment damaged during the disturbance at Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District in mid-October. But an escape gateway needed rehabilitation, resulting in short-term loss of access to higher-grade stopes within one mining front.
“ It’s not a long-term residual effect,” said chief operating offier Luc Guimond during a conference call with analysts last Friday. “We always have seismic events.”
Mining in the affected area is expected to resume in early December.
