COVINGTON, La. —
From the Southshore to the Northshore food banks are offering help to thousands of people experiencing uncertainty in their SNAP benefits.
"When certain crises happen, a food bank is going to be the first resource they reach out to,” said Yvette Roussel."We've been getting lots of phone calls, lots of people are just really confused about what might be going on because information has been changing daily."
The Northshore Food Bank said they're gearing up to help hundreds of families in St. Tammany parish that may have their benefits paused or delayed.
"We serve food insecure households in all of St. Tammany Parish and so many of them do rely on those snap benefits,” Roussel said.
