The mother of a toddler that police say died after being left in a hot car in Veyo has been charged with child abuse-homicide.

Veyo resident Celine Ashley Switwick, 29, was charged with felony child abuse homicide-criminal negligence after the case was filed by the Washington County Attorney’s Office on Thursday.

The charges were filed following an incident reported Sept. 1, when more than a dozen fire, ambulance and police units responded to an apartment building on North Main Street shortly after 6 p.m. on a report of a three-year-old toddler found in a car.

The child “was found deceased in a car seat inside a vehicle parked outside the family’s apartment," according to charging documents filed with the court.
