BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Baton Rouge Red Cross and LSU students helped prepare families in the event of a fire.
Volunteers are going door to door installing smoke alarms in neighborhoods. This is a part of the Red Cross's efforts to keep Baton Rouge families safe.
"With the American Red Cross, we respond to disasters year-round," said Micah Nicholas, Executive Director of the American Red Cross. "But many people are surprised to find out that the most frequent disasters that we respond to are home fires."
For the American Red Cross, responding to house fires is an everyday mission, and events like "Sound the Alarm" are designed to prevent tragedy before it strikes.
