WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Organizations around Kansas are stepping up to put food on the table with SNAP benefits not being distributed in November.
Thousands of Kansans are being affected by these cuts. A Newton grocery store that accepts SNAP said that their EBT sales were cut in half from September to October.
The Table of Hope Food Pantry in Wichita is struggling to keep up with demand.
“People are in need,” said Jackie Carter, the executive director. “There are more people coming to the pantry, there are more people calling, there are more people afraid, and there are more people in need.”
The pantry serves about 1,200 people each week, and people can only stop by once a month. With the current price of groceries, along with many people losing SNAP benefits, Carter says it’s a tough
