HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After a recent rise in e-bike injuries on Hawaii roads, bicyclists are educating riders to try to help keep them safe.
On Halloween night, an e-bike rider who was not wearing a helmet while riding along Humupaa Street in Waimanalo, needed advanced life support after suffering a head injury.
Last week on Maui, a 79-year-old man riding an e-bike was hit and killed in Kihei.
The man was identified as Richard Holland of Kihei, and he is one of the more than 100 people who have died on Hawaii roads so far this year.
About a third of those killed were riding motorcycles, bicycles, or scooters.
In an effort to prevent more e-bike deaths and injuries, bicyclists put on the Ewa Bike Expo.
