In my early years of running, it was hard to find a good race nearby in November. That has changed considerably, especially with all the Thanksgiving Day races held nationally. One source lists this holiday as the largest day for running and walking events in the nation.

On this Saturday morning, Nov. 1, the town of Cleveland hosts the inaugural Fill the Food Banks 5K and Fun Run. The run/walk begins and ends at the very nice Cleveland Town Park at 10 a.m. Proceeds benefit South River Church food pantry, Rowan Helping Ministries food bank and Cornerstone’s food pantry. Look for another fast course in Cleveland.
