GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - As we prepare for the return of cold weather, St. John’s Ministries in Green Bay is opening up its men’s and women’s shelters for the season.

The shelter is community-run and funded through donations. Last year, St. John’s served 646 people, offering more than 25,000 nights of shelter, a 15% increase from the year before.

This season, the women’s shelter has expanded its capacity by 20%, from 58 to 70 people each night.

The shelter is also looking to help house those who still need housing after the winter season, which wraps up at the end of April.
