Cook resident Johann Sheehan used the Theatre Lane car park in Canberra's centre to see her physiotherapist, whose sessions keep her mobile after multiple spinal surgeries.
She can drive despite living with conditions including cerebral palsy and arthritis, but with the Theatre Lane car park closed, she now has to rely on other transport.
"I need to get a friend to drive me, which means even though I've got the total capacity to do this myself, I lose my agency and my independence because it's blocked off,"
Ms Sheehan said.
The accessible car park she normally used will remain closed until 2028, while construction continues on the city's new 2,000-seat Lyric Theatre .
Ms Sheehan has contacted the office of ACT Minister for City and Government Services Tara Cheyne about the shortage
