Brent Venables couldn’t say enough about his team’s fight and belief after Oklahoma’s gritty road win in Knoxville. He called the Sooners “hard to kill” and praised their ability to overcome adversity and noise. Venables said the win showed how far the group has come a determined team that’s “not bothered by the outside noise” and continues to find ways to win late in the season.
Defense Bends but Doesn’t Break
After giving up an early touchdown, the OU defense locked in. Venables credited the unit for creating turnovers, forcing punts, and making key fourth-down stops. He noted that OU’s front seven “matched Tennessee’s physicality and then some.” Defensive lineman R. Mason Thomas’ 71-yard fumble return touchdown was a turning point, and Venables called the group’s resolve “fantastic.”
