SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Augustana hockey team (5-3, 2-2 CCHA) recorded three unanswered goals in the third period Saturday night to complete the weekend sweep over Northern Michigan (0-10, 0-2 CCHA).
The Vikings controlled a majority of possession in the opening 10 minutes of action before Quinn Rudrud was hit with a two-minute minor.
During Northern’s man-advantage, Augustana’s penalty kill was lights out and denied multiple offensive chances.
The Vikings edged out the Wildcats in shots on goal, 11-7.
NMU opened up the second period with momentum and found the back of the net early as Tobias Pitka buried a rebound for his third of the season.
The Wildcats tilted the ice in their favor and quickly outworked the Vikings as they garnered 24 shots on goal.
