A woman who initially brushed off blood in her stool as mere piles was later diagnosed with stage three colon cancer .
24 year old Meagan Meadows began noticing blood in her stool in October 2024, but after discussing it with friends and family, she chalked up her symptoms to haemorrhoids.
However, when her symptoms persisted over the next few months, Meagan decided to consult her GP, who, while not overly concerned, ordered blood tests and a CT scan for safety - both of which came back clear.
She was then referred to a gastroenterologist, who carried out a colonoscopy in June 2025. The doctor was left in "complete shock" upon discovering a large mass, prompting further CT scans and blood tests.
