Senior quarterback Brody Nugent ran for the go-ahead 32-yard touchdown with about six minutes to give third-seeded Old Bridge a 38-31 win over sixth-seeded Freehold Township in the first round of the NJSIAA/Xfinity Central Jersey, Group 5 playoffs in Old Bridge.
Old Bridge (9-1) led 31-17 with just under two minutes to go in the third quarter after a Chase Rizzo 61-yard touchdown run.
Freehold Township answered right back with a Dakota Lasater 27-yard touchdown pass to Jake Schultzel. The touchdown was set up by a long kickoff return.
Freehold then recovered the onside kick and and Lasater found Schultzel again through the air for a 48-yard scoring strike to all of a sudden tie the game at 31-31 with 1:21 left in the third.
The Patriots scored 14 points in just 24 seconds of game clock
