OKLAHOMA CITY(KFOR)- Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to a three-alarm commercial fire near SW 5th St and I-40 early Sunday morning.

Firefighters arrived to the scene to heavy flames and visible smoke coming from the front of an abandoned two-story motel.

OKCFD took a defensive approach to the fire due to impending collapses of the front and side of the motel.

According to OKCFD, the motel has been ruled a complete loss.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported to a nearby hospital for precaution.

OKCFD confirmed the motel was previously named Green Carpet Inn.

The motel was bought and renovated, but fenced and locked all around.

OKCFD utilized drones to evaluate the fire ahead of arriving units.
