The Atlantic Coast Conference will head into the first College Football Playoff ranking unveiling with some uncertainty, as both of the conference's top two ranked teams took unexpected losses in Week 10.
First, No. 9 Miami fell 26-20 to unranked SMU on the road in overtime. Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck threw an interception on third-and-6 in the first OT period to hand the ball back to the Mustangs for a game-winning drive. T.J. Harden scored the game-winning touchdown for SMU, which picked up its first top-10-ranked win since 1983.
The second upset saw Haynes King and No. 7 Georgia Tech fall 48-36 to North Carolina State , even with a Herculean effort from the Yellow Jackets quarterback, who passed for 408 yards and rushed for 103 more.
