City of Moorhead, Clay County to extend Resource Recovery Center agreement

MOORHEAD — Clay County and the city of Moorhead have reached an agreement to continue co-operating a county-owned trash and recycling center.

The city of Moorhead and Clay County plan to extend an agreement for the operation of the Resource Recovery Center, a county-owned recycling and waste transfer station, with some minor changes. The agreement comes nearly one year after the city of Moorhead signaled its intent to withdraw from an agreement that supplies city staff to the Resource Recovery Center unless the two governments could work out changes to a contract for the facility.

In extending the contract, two issues noted by the city of Moorhead were not addressed: Moorhead staff handling waste from outside of the city and city payment of utilities, lawn care and snow removal at the
