Passengers on the 6.25pm train from Doncaster to King's Cross were expecting a swift journey into London, but their trip was cut short by a horrifying incident.
The LNER service was proceeding as usual until just after leaving Peterborough station at 7.30pm on Saturday, when a mass stabbing attack began to take place.
Olly Foster, a passenger on the train, told the BBC that the initial shouts of "run, run, there's a guy literally stabbing everyone" seemed like a cruel Halloween prank amidst the typical Saturday night chatter.
Little did he know, this would turn out to be one of the largest mass stabbings in Britain, resulting in 10 people being rushed to hospital.
