The days are getting shorter and the trees have turned gold and auburn, which can only mean one thing. Autumn is well and truly here. It is a great season to grab a hot drink, get your walking shoes on and explore the county’s countryside.
Cambridgeshire is home to many great walks, but one charming Cambridgeshire village, Wicken, home to the National Trust’s oldest nature reserve, has another reason to celebrate the changing season and head out for a walk.
Wicken Fen has recorded its 10,000th species of wildlife, believed to make it the most biodiverse recorded reserve in the UK, according to the conservation charity. The record was hit earlier this year when a rare six-belted moth with a striped yellow abdomen was spotted for the first time on the reserve.
