HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Three people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash involving a suspected intoxicated driver in southwest Houston on Sunday morning, the Houston Police Department said.

A total of five vehicles were damaged after a suspected intoxicated driver rammed through the intersection on West Orem Drive and Almeda Road, HPD said.

The driver of a gray Chrysler sedan was traveling southbound on Almeda Road with no headlights when they ran through a red light and struck a white Buick with multiple people inside, according to HPD Sgt. Rebecca Dallas.

Officials said two men were pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was rushed to the hospital, where she died from her injuries. The driver at fault was also taken to the hospital, where their condition is critical.
