WASHINGTON — Five people were taken to the hospital after a shooting in Northeast D.C. early Sunday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

All five shooting victims were taken to the hospital from the scene at around 2 a.m. from the 2300 block of Bladensburg Road Northeast, with police describing them as having been "conscious and breathing."

According to an MPD spokesman, the victims were three men and two women.

A "gold sedan" could be seen driving away from the scene, according to MPD, with the department spokesman also describing the shooting as having happened outdoors. Officers have been on the lookout for the car and district detectives were working to learn what led up to the shooting.
