WHITTIER —The La Serna flag football team shocked the world when they upset No. 1 seed Mira Costa in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs
Now, they are one win away from the program’s first section title after defeating Glendora in the semifinals 20-0 on Saturday night.
“It meant everything,” La Serna coach Dylan Long said. “The hard work they have put in all year… I think every coach thinks that they have a special group, but to see them achieve special things and get to the height of playing for a CIF title next week, it’s just unbelievable.”
The Lancers will take on Roosevelt, a 13-12 winner over Mission Viejo, in the CIF-SS Division 3 championship game on Saturday, Nov. 8 at El Modena HS with the time still to be determined.
