In 1925, dozens of musicians and singers gathered in Asheville to record the first commercial recording ever made in Appalachia. Later called the Asheville Sessions, the record inspired country music artists for years.

Thursday through Sunday, Explore Asheville is hosting several Asheville Sessions-inspired events , from country and folk concerts to symposiums and panels where people can learn more.

Sunday morning, WYFF News 4's Peyton Furtado learned more about the event and listened to a sampling of Western North Carolina's earliest country music.
