An investigation is underway following a deadly wrong-way crash on the Florida Turnpike in Miami on Sunday, troopers said.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike in the area of Bird Road after a Blue Honda that was traveling the wrong way crashed head-on into a Silver Toyota.
After the two vehicles collided, they were disabled and blocked the roadway.
The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
Their identities have not been released.
FHP said that a second crash also happened when a white Toyota collided with the two disabled vehicles and a trooper's cruiser.
