Passengers have told of a ferry journey from Liverpool to the Isle of Man "like something out of a horror film" after rough seas tossed people from their seats.

Jessica Birch, 34, from the Isle of Man, was returning home with her husband and six-year-old son on Sunday night, following a weekend in Liverpool.

But their Steam Packet ferry hit severe weather conditions shortly after departing the Mersey.

Jessica, who regularly travels to Liverpool, said she had no warning that the crossing would be so extreme.

She told the ECHO: "We'd come over to Liverpool for the weekend to go to Cardmania at the M&S Arena. We travelled over on the Friday afternoon ferry, which was fine; there was no turbulence or anything
