A Saco gym teacher is setting his sights on a third Guinness World Record this month, this time for the most high school three-pointers made in one hour.
Ryan Martin, a former basketball standout at Maranacook Community High School, will attempt to break the record on Nov. 10 inside the Saco Middle School gymnasium. The mark to beat is 1,372 three-pointers, which averages about 23 successful shots per minute — roughly one every 2.5 seconds.
Martin already holds two Guinness World Records: one for the most free throws made in an hour and another for the most NBA-range three-pointers made in an hour. He says his latest challenge isn’t just about setting another record but about inspiring his students.
