Steve Garcia def. David Onama, UFC Fight Night 263

David Onama did not meet his own expectations in a one-sided UFC Fight Night 263 main event loss to Steve Garcia.

After putting together a four-fight winning streak, Onama (14-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) got his first headlining opportunity Saturday at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It did not go according to plan, because Garcia (19-5 MMA, 8-2 UFC) came out hot, landed some heavy strikes, then secured a first-round TKO.

It was a missed opportunity for Onama to climb to the next tier of the featherweight division, but instead he is forced to reassess what went wrong, and how he can fix it (via X):

Onama, 31, tasted defeat for the first time since August 2022. He has never experienced a loss like this, however, because he was finished for the first time against Garcia.
