In a tragic stampede at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district, a 21-year-old woman from Odisha lost her life, prompting Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to express profound grief and extend condolences to her family.
The CM has also announced a compassionate assistance of Rs 6 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the deceased’s nearest kin.
The incident occurred during the Kartik Ekadashi festival, where overcrowding led to a deadly stampede, resulting in the deaths of 9 people and injuries to over 25 others.
Among the victims was Rangala Roopa, a B.Sc. Nursing student from Gudiapadar village in Odisha’s Ganjam district. She had travelled to the temple along with another woman from her village.
