AROUND THE OZARKS (KY3) -Turning back the clocks means firefighters and safety experts are reminding everyone to double-check their smoke alarms.
That includes installing alarms in every room where people sleep, and having at least one on every level of a home.
Firefighters say smoke alarms that are ten years or older should be replaced. It’s also best to test your alarms every month to make sure they’re working.
“When we have house fire-related injuries or house fire-related fatalities, people who get trapped, a large percentage of those happen in homes with either no smoke alarms or smoke alarms that weren’t working,” said Mason Miller, firefighter with Battlefield Fire. “The statistics would suggest that most house fire-related injuries for the citizens happen in houses where smoke a
