A man from Lake City died early Sunday morning after he was involved in a crash in Columbia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man, 29, was heading west on Interstate 10 when the front of his vehicle crashed into the rear portion of an SUV traveling in the same direction near mile marker 304.

His vehicle came to a rest in the eastbound lanes of the roadway, and he was declared dead at the scene, FHP said.

The agency added that the driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old man from Jacksonville, was left with serious injuries as a result of the crash.
