The Malegaon police on Saturday arrested a 45-year-old man who allegedly fired two bullets at his neighbour from a country-made pistol over an altercation between children, police said. The neighbour dodged the bullet but associates of the accused allegedly beat him up.
According to police, the accused, Mehtab Ali Shaukat Ali, came with 10-12 associates to the residence of the complainant, Laeek Ahmed Mohammed Kameel, 42, near Sufia Masjid in Naya Islampura area, Malegaon, around 10.30 pm, Saturday. Ali, holding two pistols, started abusing Kameel and later fired two bullets on him.
Kameel dodged the bullets but Ali’s associates allegedly beat up Ahmed and also damaged some vehicles parked in the vicinity, a police officer said.
The accused and his associates also barged into the victim
