It’s only three games but there are already a few things to see in what Tom Willander is and isn’t.
Pressed into duty earlier than expected because of the Canucks’ wild injury crisis, he’s not been totally lost.
He’s not fully ready for prime time, but it’s clear that his brain is working to his advantage. It’s a big factor in why the Canucks drafted him after all. Some players can just see what needs to be done and then learn how to do it.
He’s almost certainly not going to be a perfect player. But he’s clearly going to be a useful player.

We can see that the right side of the defensive zone is not a tire fire. That’s a guy in control of his space. That’s good.
