Former top public servant Andrew Metcalfe may have retired from the "relentless" role of an APS secretary, but it seems he's not ready to leave the public service for good.
The former secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has landed a new gig as the ACT Public Sector Standards Commissioner, independently overseeing the territory's public service code of conduct.
The part-time job will see Mr Metcalfe managing complaints and overseeing misconduct processes, as well as other integrity-related functions.
When he retired from his secretary position in 2023, Mr Metcalfe said the job had been extraordinary but relentless.
"I've thought long and hard about when I should retire from full-time work, and quite simply, now is the right time," he wrote to staff.
