WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - The two 140-foot barges stuck on the shoreline in West Haven have finally been towed away, after several unsuccessful attempts.
The two barges have been on quite the adventure over the last couple of days.
They broke free from their moorings in New Haven during Thursday’s storm, finding a new home on a Milford beach.
Not long after, they backtracked, finding themselves on the West Haven shoreline early Friday morning.
“My husband got up, he saw lights flashing outside, was wondering, ‘what’s going on?’” said Colleen Manzo of West Hartford.
Colleen Manzo lives right on the water, the barges stuck just outside her house.
“It’s like, it’s Halloween,” noted Manzo. “Is this like a trick for Halloween?”
